Repeated harassment led Sarah to withdraw from social media. She worried that reporting the abuse would expose her to stigma or retaliation.

During a NOCAPAD-facilitated youth dialogue, she learned that digital gender-based violence is a violation of rights and is never the survivor’s fault. The session covered privacy settings, preserving evidence and ways to access psychosocial and legal support.

Hearing other young people share their experiences helped Sarah feel less alone. She adjusted her privacy settings, blocked and reported the person responsible, and sought support from a trusted community counsellor introduced through NOCAPAD.

Sarah now encourages other young women to seek support and protect themselves online. Her story illustrates how practical knowledge and a supportive environment can help someone regain confidence after harassment.

“The dialogue gave me my voice back and the courage to protect myself and others online.”
